Wrestling for Families

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It’s championship wrestling season in Pennsylvania. There’s no tougher sport than wrestling, and there’s no better wrestling in the country than our own District 11.

I wrestled for Northwestern Lehigh’s Centennial League championship team in 1986. My three sons each started for the Tigers Varsity lineup in 2019. And for nine years prior, I coached the Northwestern Youth Wrestling Association. Five of the wrestlers advancing to this year’s PIAA AA Southeast Regional Tournament learned the sport in my practice room.

I offer my military and business experience as qualifications for Congress, and that’s important. But we also need Representatives with a proven track record of investing in kids and building strong families. After all, the American family is the foundation of our society, and in many ways, it’s under attack.

By now you probably know I’m married to Susan, my wife of 24 years. Together, we’ve raised three sons- two in college and one a youth pastor serving overseas with the Army National Guard. But my investment in children and families isn’t limited to my own.

  • I coached 20 seasons of youth sports, including wrestling, soccer, and baseball. I used to spend 30 hours a week running the wrestling program. Kids around New Tripoli still call me coach.
  • I mentor student interns in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship. I’ve met with 21 high school seniors every Wednesday for five years, investing about 1,000 hours. The Bergen County Technical School District named me Business Partner of the Year for my work with their students.
  • I counsel young people as a Christian minister. I serve as a substitute pastor for local churches and lead Bible studies. This year, I’ll be conducting marriage counseling for couples and officiating two weddings.
  • I help young soldiers and airmen cope with the stress of military life. My wife and I wrote a book on the subject, Twenty Percent Soldiers, and we recently met with 800 military members and their families to coach them on resiliency and persistence.

I miss wrestling. I loved rolling around on the mat, teaching the moves, and watching my sons and their friends compete. But I’m doing a different type of wrestling these days. I’m wrestling with a culture gone awry and a political environment filled with anxiety and fear.

But don’t lose hope. We’re not going to change our culture with an Act of Congress. That requires patience, commitment, and prayer. But you can send people to Washington who are trained and equipped to fight for our hometown values and the American family. You can send me.

Keep America Free.
