Secure the Border

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I’ve spent the past two weeks outlining my plans for Safe Communities by focusing on national security and neighborhood crime. But even with the strongest military in the world and the revitalization of local policing, we won’t be safe in our communities until we can secure our national border.

Yesterday, Donald Trump earned a landslide victory in the Iowa Republican caucus. Although Iowa is in the middle of the USA and far from any border, eighty percent of caucusgoers said immigration and border security were extremely important to them. Those voters overwhelmingly cast their ballots for Trump, and it’s a big reason why he won by such a large margin (here).

It’s not just Republicans who are concerned about the border. The policies of Joe Biden and Susan Wild are causing a humanitarian and national security crisis that’s impacting people across the nation. Cartels and human traffickers are exploiting the weak and the vulnerable. Terrorists and criminals are moving freely back and forth. We have no idea who is coming into our country, and the risk of terrorism is higher than it’s been in years.

In Washington this week, House Republicans are pushing for meaningful policy reforms that will help get our border crisis under control. I fully support their efforts. We need stricter standards for granting asylum, tighter provisions for offering parole, and faster resolution of immigration cases. We need better physical barriers to prevent illegal entry and more serious consequences for breaking the law. And we must support our border control agents who are outmanned and demoralized by the overwhelming numbers of migrants.

I appreciate the essential contributions that immigrants make to our communities and our country. But I’m for legal immigration, not lawlessness. We must only admit immigrants in a manner that benefits Americans and with a system that is orderly, just, and fair.

When I get to Washington, I’ll apply my 28 years of experience in the National Guard to secure the border and protect our homeland. I’m the only person in the race with a background in domestic operations, physical security, and antiterrorism. And I’ll immediately be one of the most qualified Members of Congress in homeland defense.

Joe Biden could secure the border in a week if he had the will to do it. But he and Susan Wild would rather jeopardize our security than oppose the illegal immigration lobby. They are out of touch and ineffective. It’s time for them to go.

Keep America Free.
