China is Systematically Exterminating its Minority Citizens
Here’s what the Biden Administration report says on the subject:
Genocide and crimes against humanity occurred during the year against the predominantly Muslim Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang. These crimes were continuing and include: the arbitrary imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty of more than one million civilians; forced sterilization, coerced abortions, and more restrictive application of China’s birth control policies; rape; torture of a large number of those arbitrarily detained; forced labor; and the imposition of draconian restrictions on freedom of religion or belief, freedom of expression, and freedom of movement.
How it Affects Us:
Some American-based corporations with interests in China lobbied Congress against speaking out and acting against China’s genocide of the Uyghurs. This is a crisis of conscience for those in leadership, whether in the government or in business. If you are in a position of authority, how do you acknowledge the statement above and then proceed to negotiate business deals with the people responsible for genocide?
What Kevin Will Do About It:
Too many Washington politicians and American businesspeople are turning a blind eye to unimaginable atrocities to make a quick buck. Do they have no shame? Other Americans want to cut ties to China but don’t know how.
In Congress, I will:
- Be a leader in calling out human rights atrocities in China, those who perpetrate them, and those who enable them, even if they happen to be American businesspeople and politicians.
- Support sanctions on those individuals, institutions, and enablers associated with genocide in China.
- Work to incentivize individuals and corporations to repatriate assets from China due to human rights atrocities.
