The Importance of Military Service
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I enjoyed visiting multiple National Night Out celebrations in the Lehigh Valley last Tuesday to honor the uniformed public safety officers who work so hard to keep us safe. We all should be very grateful to the police, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders who protect and serve our communities.
I took a break from campaigning last week to spend three days in uniform fulfilling my duties in the Air National Guard. I’ve been serving for 28 years, and I am proud to have earned the title of “veteran.”
Maintaining an effective national defense is the first responsibility of Congress. Half of all discretionary spending is allocated to military defense, and the threats against our nation increase every day. Yet only 18 percent of U.S. Representatives in Washington are military veterans. That’s just a tick above the historic low reached last year (here). It’s no wonder we have problems with our military readiness.
I’ve served in the Army and Air Force as an infantry soldier, intelligence officer, and military commander. I’m a graduate of Air War College and Air Command and Staff College with a master’s degree in military operations. I deployed four times overseas for the Global War on Terrorism and supported multiple domestic operations to protect the citizens of Pennsylvania.
I’m not asking you to vote for me because I’m a veteran. I’m asking you to vote for me because I have extensive experience in national defense and know how to defend our country. When I put on the uniform, it’s my job to deter our nation’s adversaries and win our nation’s wars. It’s my job to keep you safe.
Let me do the same for you in Congress. I’ll be a national leader in military readiness, serving my country in a new and different way. I’ll apply my 28 years of military experience to ensure Safe Communities across the Lehigh Valley.
Keep America Free!
