Dellicker Statement on Leaked Abortion Ruling
Dellicker Applauds Draft Ruling to Overturn Roe v. Wade, Supports Federal Legislation to Protect Human Life Nationwide
He also condemns the Supreme Court leak and urges civility in the upcoming debate.
GERMANSVILLE, PA – Kevin Dellicker, Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, reacted to the leaked reporting of the draft majority opinion of the Supreme Court, which states, “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled.”
“Since 1973, more than 60 million innocent lives have been lost to legal abortion in the United States. This opinion offers hope that the foremost ideal of our Republic, to protect life, may be restored throughout our land.”
Dellicker added that, should this opinion stand, he doesn’t believe it is an issue that should be left to the states, but supports federal legislation to protect human life nationwide.
“If we understand that our federal government exists to secure our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that every unborn child is indeed a human life, then it is my obligation as a Member of Congress to protect and defend every human life across these United States,” said Dellicker. “If Roe v. Wade is overturned, I will vote to pass the most comprehensive pro-life legislation that can get through Congress.”
This stands in stark contrast to this Republican primary opponent, who opposes a pro-life constitutional amendment and a ban on the abortion bill RU-486, which induces chemical abortions up to ten weeks after conception.
Understanding the controversial nature of this subject, Dellicker called for productive dialogue and civil debate from both sides of the debate. He is inviting all parties to discuss these issues together.
Dellicker also acknowledged that the leaked opinion is only a draft and that the final decision has not been released and decried the disclosure of this confidential document as dangerous to the integrity of the Supreme Court. He called for an investigation into the leak.
